His List

Five-thirty in the morning, already on the street
I was up and going while the world was still asleep

Verse 1
Work was full, home was busy, always one thing more
Then momma called and said, "I need you, son" and everything changed course
Doctors, bills, and house repairs, calls between my meetings
I kept saying, "I can handle it," but inside I felt the beating

Every night when I laid down, I couldn't fall asleep
Another day down the drain, another promise I failed to keep
